Howdy!
For the last few weeks I've been working on part 2 of the Snakeskin and Whiskey Rider comic. My goal was to get the first three pages done and ready for Mega Con next month, and I'm almost there. Just a few finishing touches like some effects and dialogue tweaks, and the cover is in the penciling stages at the moment. I've had so much fun coloring these pages. It's awesome seeing them go from a few blue sketches on a piece of paper to this colorful story. I've gotten to the point where I can color a page like this in about 5-6 hours, which I don't think is too bad. I'll get the cover posted when I get it all finished.
It's late. Buenos noches, friends. - Stanway

New Blog!
First update in a long time. I'm going to try to keep the ol' blog updated a bit more regularly, so we'll see how it goes. Just short and sweet posts, bi-weekly or so is what I'm aiming for.
I've been really busy lately with several different projects, in particular my comic stuff. I'm working on a graphic novel, Star City, which is still is the writing and planning stages. I began coming up with the idea over the summer while my wife and I were road-tripping across the west. The story follows a young couple that get stranded in the Arizona desert, walk to an old mining ghost town to try to find help, and they start to hear the locals talk about strange alien activity in the mountains above the town. Adventure ensues. I'll get some sketches up one of these days.
The other project occupying most of my free time has been part 2 of Snakeskin and Whiskey Rider. After a year-long hiatus I've gotten back into it, and it's going great. Although I'm very happy with how the first issue turned out, it was kind of a rush job, where I was trying to get it done while I had time over the summer. For issue # 2, however, I'm really focusing on quality over quantity. The two main areas I'm trying to improve on is my backgrounds and acting. I'll admit that in the first issue I got a bit lazy with the backgrounds and stylized them to the point that I could just kind of fake it during the coloring. Right now I have the first 3 pages pretty much penciled, and I'm really thinking more about the environments and details of the scene.
Here's some in-progress pics.
Here's the inks for page 3. Still working on the backgrounds.
